2020 was going to be a big year for Recycled Hearts Records. With our new button machine, plenty of cassettes, a couple vinyl, and much more, we had big plans for attending shows, art fairs, and whatnot this year. Unfortunately, us not being at vending events was the least of the problems for the world. The ongoing pandemic has been pretty shitty to many artists both musically and every other kind of medium.

Sadly, Covid isn’t over, and yet the show goes on. Please refer to this website for updates and such on the pandemic: https://covid19.pinellascounty.org/dashboard/ for the county and https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/deciding-to-go-out.html for general information on the CDC. Please use caution when leaving the house and attending any events. Luckily masks and hand sanitizer will be provided by “Come Out St. Pete”

That being said, We will be wearing masks, and have our display as socially distanced and clean as we can. We will be encouraging keeping hands clean and away from your face with your mask in its correct position. It will still be alot of fun!

NATIONAL COME OUT DAY

National Come Out Day is a holiday on October 11 (THE EVENT IS THIS WEEKEND ON OCTOBER 17) to celebrate “coming out of the closet” for the LBGT+ community.

Most people think they don’t know anyone gay or lesbian, and in fact, everybody does. It is imperative that we come out and let people know who we are and disabuse them of their fears and stereotypes.

Robert Eichberg, in 1993

This is the wikipedia article explaining the reason for this holiday: the initial idea was grounded in the feminist and gay liberation spirit of the personal being political, and the emphasis on the most basic form of activism being coming out to family, friends and colleagues, and living life as an openly lesbian or gay person. The foundational belief is that homophobia thrives in an atmosphere of silence and ignorance, and that once people know that they have loved ones who are lesbian or gay, they are far less likely to maintain homophobic or oppressive views

I apologize for not pointing it in my own words, but I think it important to convey the message in its clearest way. Please note that it is not your place to out anyone other than yourself, and please only do so if you are safe to do so.

Come Out St Pete

https://comeoutstpete.org/

This is the 4th Annual celebration of Come out day by the organization. Most years, the entire street is blocked off for parades and vendors can be found across Central. Because of the pandemic things are being run a little differently this year. Places with be spaced out, and in little hubs at physical spots around the city. Get to as many as you can!

Punky’s Bar & Grill 3063 Central Avenue

We will be featured outside Punky’s from 12pm- 5pm! I have no idea who else will be at this location, but I am sure the day of we will be able to direct you to the other hubs around the city.

I’ve actually never eaten there, but looking forward to it as I will be standing outside from a food place all day. lol

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning youth.

In honor of at a pride festival, Recycled Hearts Records will have the goal of raising 300 dollars for the Trevor’s Project on Saturday alone. This means all purchases will go to this goal during the event. 300 may or may not sound like a lot, but as always are primarily seller is dollar buttons. THAT IS A LOT OF BUTTONS!

OUR PRODUCTS

This is just an example of our buttons, They are a high quality metal backed 1.75in. Bright and Bold!

In order to reach that goal, we will have many different pride buttons. Of course we will have the rainbow flags, but also the flag for trans, bisexual, pansexual, ace, non-binary, etc. We will also have plenty of pronoun buttons of he/him, she/her, and they/them.

We will also have the largest amount of quality buttons with emo, punk, alternative phrases on them, as well as ones that deal with mental health and much more.

While our focus will not be on the other political buttons, we will have a small display since the upcoming election is coming up.

We will have our arrange of stickers that we sell from all sorts of things at prices you wont be able to find elsewhere. These are the same stickers that end up at Hot Topic, Gamestop, or other places, but at a fraction of their prices.

We will have art prints from our lovely Samantha, and a limited number of postcards with the art on them too! Send them out! Save the USPS or at least give a friend locked inside these last few months a smile đŸ™‚

Lastly, We are still called Recycled Hearts RECORDS, for a reason. We will have a set up of music we have released including cds, vinyl, and cassettes.
